Rapper and entrepreneur Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is a master at trolling. He also has a few long-lasting feuds that resurface every so often. There’s Ja Rule, French Montana, and boxer Floyd Mayweather, and all of them have been on the receiving end of 50 Cent’s taunts and insults. Mayweather recently spoke about their beef and it attracted Fif’s attention.
50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather have an old beef
Never forget that at one time, Mayweather and 50 Cent were close friends. They were as tight as brothers but fell out over some business dealings back in 2012. After the pair decided to partner up for a boxing venture connected to Mayweather’s TMT Promotions, Mayweather went to prison.
According to 50 Cent, he learned Mayweather didn’t file any licensing paperwork, so he handled it and invested $2 million into the business.
Fif told Hot 97 he signed fighters and expected for Mayweather to pay him back his half of the investment. Allegedly, that led to the rift, but Mayweather’s version is a bit different.
Mayweather mentioned 50 Cent on podcast
Back in February, Mayweather told Drink Champs hosts NORE and DJ Efn that he didn’t know why 50 Cent had ill feelings toward him, but he alluded to the TMT deal.
However, he reignited the discussion about his old friend while doing a recent guest spot on Fat Joe’s podcast. Fat Joe asked if he’d ever be friends with 50 Cent again, and he implied that it wouldn’t happen.
Mayweather said the beef started because he wouldn’t give 50 Cent half of his company. “You can’t hang out with me every day for years then all of a sudden if I don’t give you half of my company, now it’s ‘Aw you’re dumb and you’re stupid’,” he said.
He went on to question why 50 Cent would continue to hang around him if he thought he was stupid. This was a reference to the rapper’s insults over the years about Mayweather’s intelligence.
50 Cent calls Mayweather out for talking about him
Once 50 Cent heard about Mayweather’s interview with Fat Joe, he slammed him for bringing him up. He hit Instagram with a pointed message for the boxer: “I’m not the marketing campaign champ, keep my name out your mouth. Damn somebody read this for champ i don’t f*ck wit you, you don’t f*ck wit me. OK.”
Both said they don’t have beef with each other anymore, but 50 Cent has taken a few shots at Mayweather on social media. In June, he posted a meme of the fighter wearing a shirt with a misspelled phrase, mocking his ability to read. And in April, Fif made fun of Mayweather on Instagram over a pronunciation misstep when he tried to say “pandemic.”
However, he did take a break from trolling to offer condolences after Mayweather’s uncle passed away in March.
Sometimes fans choose sides, but it’s clear 50 Cent probably won’t stop trolling Mayweather anytime soon. It also answers Fat Joe’s question about whether their feuding is just entertainment. It definitely is not.
