A custody battle might be gearing up for Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers.
On Thursday, Hammer, 34, officially requested joint custody of the two children he shares with his estranged wife, 38, according to a Los Angeles Superior Court docket obtained by Page Six. The “Rebecca” actor is also requesting Chambers and their children return from the Cayman Islands, where they have been living since the start of the pandemic.
“Armie returned to Los Angeles this past July, with a promise from Elizabeth that she and the children would follow shortly thereafter,” attorneys for Hammer state in the documents, obtained by The Blast. “To date, however, Elizabeth and the children remain in the Cayman Islands and Armie has not seen the children in several months now.”
In the filing, Hammer claims Chambers agreed to return to the US on the first flight in October but they failed to arrive.
“Armie sincerely hopes, however, that Elizabeth is not trying to limit his contact with their children, and that her recent decision to keep the children in the Cayman Islands away from their father is a well-intentioned though misguided effort to navigate the current pandemic,” the documents state.
Chambers’ attorneys responded in a letter of their own suggesting that Hammer return to the Caymans to see the children, as they’re living “normal” lives on the islands in contrast to having to wear masks in LA and stay indoors.
Her attorneys also notably expressed they “have concerns regarding Armie engaging in behavior which many would consider putting him and others at risk.”
Page Six exclusively revealed that Hammer briefly dated app founder Courtney Vucekovich this summer. He also was spotted on a date with Josh Lucas’ ex, Jessica Ciencin Henriquez, and seen strolling with Rumer Willis.
Chambers filed for divorce from the “Call Me by Your Name” star in July and asked to be awarded primary physical custody of their children, Harper Grace, 5, and Ford Douglas Armand, 3, with joint legal custody for Hammer.
Reps for the former couple didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
