BBC’s Antiques Roadshow sees guests from up and down the country bring along their much-loved items in the hope they might be worth a substantial amount of money. Tonight’s show was no different as Fiona presented the third ‘The Best of the Summer’ episode, with a multitude of valuable belongings on display. One guest was given a surprise this evening when he brought along a family heirloom, with expert Richard Price soon revealing just how much the possession was truly worth.
Expert Richard soon drew viewers’ attention to the stunning clock brought in by one guest to the Roadshow.
And he soon questioned how the heavy item was able to be displayed, remarking: “Well what a magnificent thing, how did you get it here today?”
The guest explained: “My relations helped me down with it, my nephew and my niece have their own removal business,”
Richard went on to open the casing of the clock to “have a better look” at the interior – before making the revelation about the item.
He said: “You don’t need me to tell you that it is a magnificent skeleton clock, ticking, striking and quarter chiming.”
The guest told Richard he had inherited the item from his father, adding: “It’s been in fine working order since.”
Richard responded: “It looks in very good working order, there’s only one thing wrong with it.
“And that is, that this case is not original,” he warned – but luckily the guest admitted he was already aware of this shortfall.
Richard later told the guest his clock was worth between £6,000 and £8,000.
